"Charlie"
We adopted Charlie (above) in September of 2000 from the Macomb County Animal Control. The best we can figure, Charlie is a mix of Rottweiler, German Shephard and Collie. We are almost certain that he has a pinch of Husky in him as well because he woo's and "talks" rather than barking and he lives for the snow as much as the Siberians. Unlike the Siberians though, Charlie can be outside off leash all day and he won't leave the property.
Charlie is our resident watchdog. He is wonderfully protective of our children and  property without being over the top aggressive and he is a joy to have around. Of all of our dogs, he is the favorite of our friends and family.
Charlie loves socializing
and enjoys obedience and agility as well.
Charlie is irreplaceable.
"Sport" (left) is an older neutered DSH. His owner could not get him to stop spraying in the house and could no longer keep him so we offered him a home and job in our yard. Sport keeps the mole and vole population in check, helps socialize our dogs with cats and is just a sweet boy to have around.

"Fern" (Left). Fern is a sweet 2 year old spayed B&W feral rescue that had to be moved when her colony was trapped. We offered her a home on our property as a barn kitty. Fern was soon drawn closer to the house by the other friendly cats and over the last year has come to understand people are okay. While she will never be a cuddler, she no longer runs away from us. Fern has taken up residence on our deck with the other kitties and helps Sport keep the voles and mice away.

"Luna" (left)
Luna found and adopted us by appearing on our deck one morning for breakfast. We were unable to locate an owner and decided to let him stay. Luna was missing one eye when we took him in but it appeared to be either a birth defect or a very old injury that was long since healed. We took him to the vet to be immunized, altered and chipped and he settled in here very nicely .
Luna fast became one of our favorites with his super sweet and affectionate personality. He gets along with all the cats and us but loves Fern the most and the two are very close. Luna also loves to follow our daughters around the yard and will sit outside the kennel gate while they take care of the dogs inside. Recently, he got a little too close to the gate and when he flicked his tail between two of the fence posts a visiting Siberian (not from our kennels or lines) was on him in a heartbeat and dragged poor Luna into the kennel by his tail. My daughters were able to get him away from the dog quickly but we weren't certain Luna was going to make it. He was bitten multiple times and had cuts, bruises, and missing hair. Our daughter was also seriously scratched and bitten by the frightened cat when she was trying to rescue him. With some emergency care, TLC and some strong antibiotics Luna pulled through just fine and hopefully will sit a little farther from the gate next time.
Our daughter was also on antibiotics due to the serious bites and recovered as well. We don't blame the visiting Siberian or Luna. It's the nature of the beast. This is one of the reasons, however, that we socialize our dogs and puppies with cats and why we encourage our families to continue that socialization if possible. Our own Siberians and puppies are generally trustworthy but only because we work very hard to teach them to respect cats. The squirrels are on their own.
